can you keep up?

Today was the first day of student-teaching. All I can say is..."can you keep up? ah ah- baby boy~ make me lose my breath". I've been up since the crack of dawn. I haven't woken up when it was still dark in a loong time. I better get use to this lifestyle...it's going to be like this for a while. Tuesdays are the longest though because I have class after teaching until 7:30.

For the first day of student-teaching, I think everything went pretty well. I was introduced to the class as Ms. Kim, it's kinda weird to hear people call me that. But the kids are so cute and well-behaved. My master teacher asked me to come sit in front of the class and talk about myself for a few. I don't know why...but I was a little nervous. They're 7 and 8 years old! Maybe it was because of a conversation I had with Aimee last night. She's tutoring second graders too and was saying how these kids hurt her feelings since they're so honest about everything. So when I was put on the spot like that, I kept thinking if I was going to say the right thing? are they going to understand or relate? One of the questions I answered was "what is your favorite place?" My response was- Napa. Again, maybe because I was talking about going to Napa with Aimee yesterday. But they don't know where and what that is. Half the class said"home" and the other half said "the jungle". I didn't know the jungle was that popular. Apparently, it's THAT fun. The rest of the time I was mostly grading papers and observing the class. There's so much you have to think about when you teach....not only the actual material. I hope I'll be good at it.

Two students already asked if I can sit next to them during lunch. I don't think I eat with them anyways...but it was a nice gesture to the new kid on the block...or student-teacher.
